How Should I Prepare for Swim Lessons?
Preparing for swim lessons with Sunsational Swim School is simple — one of the many perks of having lessons at your own pool!
Here’s everything you need to know to get your student ready and make sure each lesson goes smoothly.
👙 What Should My Child Wear?
- Swimwear: Please have your student dressed in proper swimwear and ready to go at the start of each lesson.
- Swim diapers: If your child is not potty trained, we highly recommend using swim diapers.
- Note: We reserve the right to cancel or end a lesson early (without refund) if the pool is unsanitary or not safe for use.
🥽 Should I Bring Any Gear?
For most beginner lessons, no gear is necessary. However:
- Goggles can be helpful for older or more advanced swimmers.
- Towels, sunscreen, and drinking water are also a good idea to have nearby, especially in warmer weather.
- If your student has gear they’re already comfortable using, feel free to have it ready.
🧸 Will the Instructor Bring Equipment or Toys?
Yes, some instructors may bring their own toys, tools, or training aids depending on the swimmer’s age and skill level. This is entirely up to the instructor and tailored to the lesson plan.
You're also welcome to have your own pool toys on hand if there are specific items your child enjoys using in the water.
🌡️ Pool Safety & Conditions
To ensure a productive and safe lesson:
- The pool must be clean and sanitary.
- The water should be warm enough for your child to be comfortable throughout the lesson. (We recommend at least 82–84°F for younger students.)
- If the water is too cold or conditions are unsafe, your instructor may cancel or end the lesson early without a refund.
That’s It!
No long checklists, no special equipment needed — just a ready swimmer and a safe, clean pool! If your instructor recommends anything specific after your first lesson, they’ll let you know directly.
